Swim
Comments: I have no idea what i am thinking of, but this is the second time I have done a new thing on race day and it is ALWAYS a bad decision. The one thing in tri i have little trouble with is the swim. I purchased a wetsuit two weeks before the tri and never swam in it until race day. I paid dearly for it. I was getting drag from my arms, and neck where water was coming into the suit. I really do not need a wetsuit it actually hindered my performance. I made it through and learned a lesson. What would you do differently?: No wetsuit - it added 12 minutes to last year's time. Transition 1
Comments: Took off my wetsuit and got into my bike without much trouble at all What would you do differently?: No wetsuit Bike
Comments: This was my best leg of this race although not my shining moment on the bike - i could have pressed a lot more, and done better, but i was saving myself for the run. I felt great the entire time on the bike and was not spent at all. I actually though i was getting a penalty as i got to a hill with the ref right next to me, and the person in front of me really slowed and i pushed really hard and came into the passing zone, but at the crest of the hill, he hit the hammer so i dropped back out of the passing zone, which T2 my left hammy locked up while dismounting. What would you do differently?: Go all out on the bike - my run sucks no matter what i do. Transition 2
Comments: Miserable transition time mostly because i tried to stretch out the hammy to feel better on the run. What would you do differently?: Better nutrition Run
Comments: Wow - i would be hard pressed to have a worse run time than this, but poor training and poor nutrition are two major strikes that will rear their head in an oly. My hammy never recovered and by mile three the quad started locking up. I ran/walked 1/1 for the first three miles then the last three whatever i could muster without locking up. I was not winded, just my muscles were done. What would you do differently?: Train more and proper nutrition going into the race. Post race
Warm down: Went to the medallion tent and ate fruit and waited for people to come in. What limited your ability to perform faster: Simple - poor judgement (wetsuit) poor training, poor nutrition Event comments: I love this race and i was very happy to finish and be involved in the premier event of the year for this triathlete. I will come back next year under 3:30. Last updated: 2008-04-12 12:00 AM

Arrived in st pete 1:30 saturday. Checked in to the race and racked the bike. Went to the Vinoy and checked into the hotel....hung by the pool and then went to carrabba's for dinner. Saw the BT people there and we ate with some friends of ours. Went back to the hotel and fell asleep around 10pm. Woke up at 5:30 and i was bodymarked by 6. Setup transition and went to the swim start with plenty of time to spare.
No warmup - just put on my wetsuit and jumped into the corral.
