Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 30m 39s
Overall Rank = 286/533
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 24/30
Pre-race routine:

Not much - had a peanut butter bagel when I woke up and then another one when I got to Oxford.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 11m 28s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim felt good - I freestyled the whole way though especially when I first got in it felt like there was a current pushing against me.

Was bummed that this time includes time getting out of the pool till you enter the transition area
What would you do differently?:

Learn flip turns
Transition 1
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Did well here - helps to have the prime "end of rack" position
What would you do differently?:

Run out of the pool and into T1. I wonder if I could save time by putting my shirt on while I'm riding?
Bike
  • 51m 23s
  • 12.7 miles
  • 14.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Those hills were tough. Passed 32 people and was passed by 26.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Maybe practice more hills or try to keep a faster pace. I was aiming for 16 mph on the flat portions but might have been able to go faster.
Transition 2
  • 00m 34s
Comments:

3rd in my age group and 29th overall.

Proving once again that although I can not swim, run or bike very fast, I can do NOTHING quite well!!! :-D
What would you do differently?:

I could have shaved a second or two off by getting off my bike a little better. At least I didn't fall like I did at the 3 Pigs 2007.
Run
  • 25m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I was kind of on a slow pace to start off. About mile 1, I sped up to try and keep up with a guy who had just passed me. We raced together for about 1.5 miles till I passed him on the end.

I had a HUGE negative split - I think I could have shaved a minute or two off had I started out a little faster.
What would you do differently?:

Start out faster
Post race
Warm down:

Ate a bagel or two.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor swim technique, slow mile 1 of the run.
