Swim
Comments: Seemed like fast start. About 200 yards into it, started running into slower swimmers. Had to reposition and go around several. Rounding buouy was good. Sighting buouy line was tough on way back, due to direct sunlight. Was finally able to make out the 'v' in the tree line, which was a tip Mike Shae gave before we took off for the swim. What would you do differently?: not much, just get stronger in the swim. Was quite happy with this pace at 1/2 mile. Transition 1
Comments: Good T1, felt quick. Bike
Comments: Bike was tough with some good hills that really hurt me (seven mile mark). I am not strong on the hills. Pushed it pretty hard, through 3/4 of way. Let up a little on last 1/4. What would you do differently?: pay attention while drinking ... went off shoulder into grass/sand once, almost wrecked. Transition 2
Comments: good transition! Run
Comments: Didn't feel that fast at first, but started to hold my pace under 8 minute miles. Kept mentally plugging away and next thing I knew I was near the finish and was able to finish out under an 8min/mile, for the first time in a tri! What would you do differently?: Best tri-run I have had thus far! Post race
Warm down: Stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing - great day. Event comments: Great race. Great location. Great organization. Will be back, next time with the kids, since there is a nice beach and playground. Extremely happy with my performance at this event. Put together my best three 'paces' of any event thus far, and this was a 'long' sprint ... especially happy I got my run under 8min/miles, and on a four miler too (my best flat 5k has been 7:47min/mile, so this was FANTASTIC!). Emjoyed chatting with Jeremiah Utecht and Mike Shae at the awards ... look forward to hanging with you guys next year ... summers here are too damn short ... can't believe the season is over!!! Steph drove me out to Baxter and helped me move gear.
Talked to Mike Shae (Jamestown) and his wife, for awhile.
Bought 'racing' goggles at the event since I seem to have misplaced my regular outdoor goggles. Worked out ok.
