Swim
Comments: Ughhhhh....this swim really irked me. I seeded myself near the front since I'm a stronger swimmer. Welp, wrong move. I must have been grabbed and swam on top of no less then 15 times the first 300 before we hit the bridge. It really threw me off my game. Add to that the posibility I put my suit on wrong. My arms were EXHAUSTED before I even hit the half way point. I was really off my game. I'm a stronger swimmer then that. I was hoping to cut a few minutes off my time but instead came in the same time as last year. GRRRRRRR What would you do differently?: Take more time with my wetsuit...OR, look into a sleeveless. I feel like the sleeves fatigued me. Also, find a better spot to start off or just deal with the leg grabbing. Oh, and do more sprint workouts. I am fast, but I can be MUCH faster. Transition 1
Comments: T1 felt slow, but turns out wasn't that bad. What would you do differently?: Run faster through it. I was at a light job to keep my HR down. Bike
Comments: I was so happy to get on The Beast. As soon as I got a couple seconds in, I said to myself "Time to go to work." I know part of the course, so I know where to switch the gears and where I can kill it. I felt GREAT on the hills. I dropped gears, sat back in my saddle, and just spun up them. I worked the down hills as well. At one point, I was in my highest gear and couldn't pedal any more. 30+ mph feels FUN!!! I did my best with my liquids but for whatever reason, I almost puked 38' in. 2' later, I burped and felt better for the moment. Best thing about this ride...I blew the world's BIGGEST snot rocket and it landed on my arm (I was goign about 17mph so it didn't clear me whenI blew it) Either way, it was huge and I felt proud. Disgusting I know, but it made me chuckle. Ok, so the first loop was great cuz I was the first wave, so it very sparse. I focused on the girl in front of me and just stayed with her. Second loop though, I lost my bait and wasn't as focused on my speed as much as I was on just getting around people. Alot of yelling "ON YOUR LEFT" took place. Overall though, I was pleased :) What would you do differently?: Maybe push it a little harder and stay focused when the course got busy. Transition 2
Comments: Not much to say here. Ran through transition good. Got my crap on good. Off I went :) What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: BOOOOO.....to this run! It's all in my head, I know it. I run faster then this, MUCH faster. I just get out there and feel like a million pounds. And every little cramp or ache I feel, I blow out of porportion. I slacked big time on this run. I looked at other girls, and guys, running by me looking fresh and light on their feet and I got jealous. I want to be them and some day I WILL be them. One great thing though about the run is the encouragement you get. I must have had 5 people say encouraging things to me. When you're hurting, or want to quit, a few small words mean the world. What would you do differently?: More bricks...LOTS AND LOTS of bricks. In fact, my new nickname is brick. Just call me brick. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, almost threw up, drank lots of water, took some pictures, hugged a dog, ate some food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough brick training. Also, I'm still carrying around 10-15 lbs of useless weight. It hinders me physically and mentally. It's gotta go. Event comments: This is a great race with great volunteers. I got to volunteer myself during check in and loved it! The course is great, although I would like to see the run for the sprint maybe a little more interesting. It's boring, but it is what it is. My only complaint is we were told we could remove our bikes and gear at 10:30. I was waiting from 10 to do this. By 10:50, people were lining up to get into transition to get their gear, and the ones inside were lined up waitign to get out. Why they wouldn't let you leave is beyond me. So I had to liberate The Beast cuz I wans't waiting any longer. Last updated: 2008-04-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 and had my usual oatmeal and banana. Stopped by Wawa on my way to the race and grabbed a coffee. Got to race site and walked down to body marking and waited to be let into transition. Got first spot on the rack and got into race mode. Laid out my gear and got into race mode. Jammed to some tunes, thanked the big guy for letting me be able to be a part of triathlons, and grabbed the wetsuit. I tried my best to get my suit on properly...but I'm pretty sure I messed it up :(
About an hour out, I did 10' of plyometrics and some pick ups. Got the blood flowing and out on suit. Got down to start and hopped in water. sprinted out 30" and back to shore. Warm up, DONE!
