Swim
Comments: Swim went well, I felt comfortable, got in good rhythym early. I think the course was longer than advertised as overall the swim times seemed slow. What would you do differently?: My nose plug strap was shot so I just used the nose piece which I lost between the swim and end of T1. Transition 1
Comments: 2nd fastest T1 time in AG, +7 seconds from 1st. Bike
Comments: Due to the start, I passed a lot of females but it wasn't much of an issue. I think I only got passed once or twice. What would you do differently?: Bike went well, nothing to change Transition 2
Comments: 3rd fastest T2 in AG, +3 from 1st. I still stop and get off bike, no gliding, leg over bike, running dismount. I know I would have some troubles if I have bottles on my behind the seat holder. No bottles there this race. What would you do differently?: I switched Garmin from bike to wrist band. I did have some troubles at the start of run getting strap on my wrist. Should practice this, maybe just slow down a little and get it right. Run
Comments: 6:51 and 6:57 were tops in my AG, I was at 6:58. When I got off bike I was 1st bike in my rack section for 50-59M. I thought I was possibly leading my AG. I didn't want to get passed by anyone from wave 6. I did not see anyone in front of me that looked like my AG but I should have paid more attention. I could have probably pushed it a little more and got into the 6:40s had I known I needed it. Lesson learned, go as hard as possible, especially for a sprint. Scott and I got to do a high five, neat. What would you do differently?: Look for possible AG competitors in front of me, especially on out and back course. Post race
Warm down: Got water, banana, granola bar and went to hang with family, waiting for Scott who started in wave 8. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was not A race, I trained pretty hard during the week, had 5 AAU bball games and pushed a 600 yd, 11.8M bike and 5k practice tri at TriRochester TNT. Ran a less than a mile on Fri, checking out Pearls but basically took Fri & Sat off. Legs felt kind of dead on Fri climbing steps at Verso tour w/Scott and a little better on Sat during our Rose Garden and quarry walks. I did feel good on Sun am. Event comments: Post race food was a little lacking. Nice the AG awards went 6 deep, very nice small granite plaques for 1-3 AG finishers. Last updated: 2008-04-14 12:00 AM

Drove up to St Cloud on Friday to stay with our son, Scott, who was also doing the race, only his 2nd tri. Our daughter, Trisha, also came with us. My parents came up on Saturday. We all went out to Olive Garden on Sat night. Honey Nut Cheerios and banana on Sun am. Scott and I left his apartment about 6:15 and arrived about 6:30. No real taper, fairly tough week of training.
A short warmup run, a short warmup bike ride. Running with different shoes, my Pearl Izumis, cause my Brooks are due to be replaced and caused me some discomfort at the TriRochester TNT (Thur Night Tri).
