Run
Comments: There were 14,000 people there. This was my first race so I was kind of nervous to begin with and then add all the tens of thousands of people. I positioned myself close to the start line and was able to just take off. Actually felt really good during the run despite the fact that I hadn't eaten real food in two days. First mile I did in 8 minutes exactly. I grabbed a sip of water at the halfway/turnaround point just because my mouth was dry. I actually felt great. Towards the finish line I heard my husband and my girls cheering for me. So much fun! I kicked it up a notch and finished off strong What would you do differently?: Run faster. I didn't push as hard as I could have but I was afraid if I pushed too hard I would only be able to keep it up for a short bit and then be slower in the long run Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My stomach pains. Definitely inhibited my run. But still felt like it was a strong run. Event comments: I had so much fun! I can't believe I can run! It's so nice to have confidence in my body. I'm sick so often with the abdominal pain that it's nice to be able to control my body for once. I had a good time and am looking forward to the next race! It's official--I'm addicted Last updated: 2008-04-15 12:00 AM

I was feeling sick with the abdominal pain all day Thursday. Still in a little bit of pain on Friday. Took it easy. Ate a liquid diet all day Friday. Drank plenty of water Friday night and a protein shake
Drank water and a protein shake. Just a few stretches right before race
