Swim
Comments: Fastest swim in my AG! Wow, this was an excellent swim for me. I love these ISD pools. 50 meters and 9 foot wide lanes. Only one way traffic. I felt so great in the water. Smooth and in control the entire time. I actually passed about 5 people. I have never passed anyone in a pool swim. I usually go out way to fast, but this time I did everything right. The funniest thing was that about 30 seconds into my swim, I realized that I forgot to start my watch. Once I realized this, when my right arm (I wear my watch on he right) was out of the water, I lifted up my left arm and pressed the start button. Maybe cost me a second or two, but I needed to know where I was since I was trying to PR. What would you do differently?: Remember to start my watch, but other than that, could not be happier with this swim. Transition 1
Comments: I got a little misdirected in T1. Started to run to the bike out. I guess it was my fault for not knowing the flow of the transition area. What would you do differently?: Know where to go. Learn to get into my shoes while they are on the bike. Learn to ride sockless. Bike
Comments: I intended to eat the paste, and it was yummy! I just hammered. Stayed in aero other than when I turned. Kept cadence high and pushed a gear harder than I normally would have. I loved this ride. What would you do differently?: Was there anymore to give one the bike? Probably. I should have had a little more to drink. I think I took 3 sips of water the entire ride. I just did not want to sacrifice any speed. Transition 2
Comments: At least I knew where the run out was! Fastest T2 in my AG. What would you do differently?: learn to get off the bike better. I can get out of my shoes, but I still have to stop and then swin my leg over. Run
Comments: First in AG on the swim, second on the bike and last on the run. I have made incredible progress with my run, but there is still so far to go. I felt OK. I was worried that I trashed my legs on the bike, but I was still able to run the whole thing. Marcy's graceful move of the day came about 100 yards from the finish line. They took us behind the school and tennis courts. Around the parking lot and then to the finish between the school and pool. Right around the tennis courts, you go into the parking lot and there was a black speedbump (the same color as the pavement). I did not see it and took a nice dive onto the ground. Trashed my knee prety good and craped up my right palm. There was a volunteer pretty close by. She asked me if I was OK, and then told me that I was the 4th person to fall. Well, do you think that maybe they should have positioned someone there to warn people? Maybe put a bright orange cone there? Saw Steve as I was finishing my first loop and he was starting. Took me awhile to catch up t him. What would you do differently?: Eat more paste. I know I had more to give. Of course not falling on my face would be good for next time! Post race
Warm down: Crossed the line. Mom and Brandt (oldag92) were there waiting for me! Got some water and waited for Steve. I knew he was having a great run. What limited your ability to perform faster: Still need to focus on speed work on the run. Another 10 lbs off would not hurt either. Event comments: Overall, a great day. I was happy with my performance. Happy that Brandt came out to jockstrap!! DSU is trying hard to put on a good race. The shirts were pretty bad and no hats this time. There were a few times on the bike where I was concerned about cars. Twice, cars turned from 1709 into side streets through the bike lane. Once was a little close for my comfort. Also, on the second loop, I got caught behind a line of cars that were going slow. Apparently the lead car did not want to pass a cyclist so that backed things up. When there was no oncoming traffic I rode in the other lane. That was really outside of the DSU's control. Overall, good race that I will do again. Last updated: 2008-04-15 12:00 AM

Gotta love a race 5 minutes from your house. Woke up at 5:15, had a bagel with PB. Put the bikes on the car. Stopped to pick up mom and got to the race site by 6:15. I liked the fact that they had assigned racking. In the past, DA used open racking. I was right in the middle of transition. Set up my space, got my chip and went inside where is was warmer.
No warm up.
