Swim
Comments: mass start, very congested. Swam over a lot of people, should actually have started closer to the front as I was one of the faster swimmers (top 1/3 anyway) and I started toward the back. Very tight course. I was swimming slightly to the right all the time, even when I was drafting... need to work on the straight line swim. What would you do differently?: My time was slower than in the pool, but I thought the swim was okay... I had a good time overall. Transition 1
Comments: I did struggling getting my wetsuit off my legs, even with using body glide. I dropped my helmet, sunglasses and number on the ground. But I think my time was not too bad. What would you do differently?: Still need to get out of wetsuit quicker. Bike
Comments: I passed a lot of people on the bike, and was only passed by a couple. I slowed a little on the hills, but definitely make up for it on the flats. Aero position worked well. What would you do differently?: I still need more hill work so I don't slow down quite so much. Transition 2
Comments: I thought this went fine, helmet off, cycling shoes off, running shoes on and out of T2 - I'm not trying to set any speed records :) What would you do differently?: nothing really Run
Comments: I was passed within meters of the finish by 2 women. I picked up the pace and out sprinted one at the line. However the overall time has us tied, with her before me... I think based on alphabetic order. I know I crossed before her and she did too, she though she could hold me off... so oficially my place was 21... but I know I was 20. I ran hard, kept my breathing under control. I felt sick after I sprinted across the line - I gave it my all at the end. What would you do differently?: This was a good run. I always try to get my 5k under 30min and I did... now I need to get under 25min!!! New goal :) Post race
Warm down: walked around a little, drank water and stretched a bit What limited your ability to perform faster: swimming - the congestion and a little navigation, cycling - the hills, running - just need mroe speed work. but overall I am happy. Event comments: Weather was great. Needs more water stations. Last updated: 2008-04-21 12:00 AM

I got all my gear ready and loaded in the car. Stopped at Tim Horton's for a breakfast sandwhich and a tea, drank a bottle of water. Went to the check-in - had to stand in line for quite a while as the race chips were late. Then walked 2 blocks with my gear to the transition area and set up transition.
Swam a short bit to get used to the temperature.
