Total Time = 2h 02m 47s
Overall Rank = 113/296
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 13/40
Event warmup:

About a mile bike down to the TA. Jogged up the first hill, and then out and back the 1/4 mile leading to the finish. Did about 5 mins swim warmup
Swim
  • 25m 13s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 31s / 100 meters
Comments:

My damn timing chip fell off in the chaos. No official times/ranks for my different legs.

1st and last 250 meters were actually good, but when I get caught up in traffic, I'm still terrible. Probably went too slow in the middle, considering I was pretty good over the last portion.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to figure out how to swim in traffic
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Had hard time clipping in, not sure why. Don't like uphill starts. Had farthest possible run with bike due to rack placement. Grassy area, not even, so bike was bouncing around when running with it.
What would you do differently?:

May change pedals/shoes for easier clip ins.
Bike
  • 52m 49s
  • 18.2 miles
  • 20.68 mile/hr
Comments:

Didn't drink enough - stupid me froze the wrong bottle for the bike, and so it was only half-defrosted. Stupid me.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Again, had the longest possible run with bike in TA (Bike in/out was the same). Not cool.

Had a total brain fart after I changed - stood there for about 5 seconds not sure what I supposed to do next (RUN). Dehydration must have been affecting my brain.
What would you do differently?:

Could definitely be faster.
Run
  • 41m 15s
  • 8 kms
  • 05m 10s  min/km
Comments:

Sun was intense by that point, was dumping a lot water on my head.

Not bad overall. Second loops decidedly slower than the first, but the finish (last 1/2 mile) was pretty strong.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for 10 minutes. After rehydrating with 3 bottles of water/Gatorade had to ride bike back 1 mile to parking lot, mostly uphill - but that wasn't all that bad.

Also went and played soccer a couple of hours later, that was dumb.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming, as always. Not working out in June.

Event comments:

Was a little crowded on course and in post-race. Don't love getting crowded in on the bike.

Pizza is not my favorite post-race food.

Course: 3 loop course, so repeated every up/down hill. One long (mile +) uphill, three times, which was good for dropping people and making up the ground I lost on the swim. Was very crowded due to multiple loops, I think there was a good amount of blocking and drafting by everyone, I had to slow down a couple of times. Two hairpin turnarounds on each loop (so 6 altogether) - did ok, except for once was in traffic with slower riders.
