Run
Comments: Tried to get up closer to the front of the starting line to avoid the traffic jams right out of the start, but I still got caught up in them. Not too bad, but I'm sure it added at least a few seconds to my first mile. Everything went as planned after that, except for mile-3. I don't know where that extra half-minute came from. I couldn't feel my pace slow that much, and I was still in the same pack of runners, so apparently their pace slowed too. That 3 mile marker just couldn't come soon enough though, and when I checked my split, I knew I had to haul ass if I wanted to make my PR. Crossed the line with with a new 5k PR of about 30 seconds. What would you do differently?: I love running 5k's, I just need to put a little more effort into my pre-race routine (no pizza, sleep more, etc.). Post race
Warm down: Typical NOTC post-race. Had some good shrimp and pasta, and a couple of beers while talking to some friends. Good times. What limited your ability to perform faster: My engine. Event comments: As always, this NOTC race was top-notch. Last updated: 2008-04-23 12:00 AM

Had a rough night before the race. My son had his friend sleepover, and they were going nuts all night. I ended up getting about 3 hours of sleep. And of course had to get pizza for the sleepover, so I had a couple of pieces which didn't sit too well with my stomach.
Woke up and checked the weather, it was still raining, but not too hard. So I had a little water and headed down to the race.
Stretched more than usual for this race, since I was feeling really tight. Jogged about a half mile to loosen up, and then headed to the line.
