Comments:

Bad, Bad & Bad. We have not had warm weather here in quite a while, that is until these past couuple of days.. I took the family down 4 days early for a mini-vacation at a cottage on the lake. I brought my full sleeve wetsuit because I knew it was going to be cold and it was (55 degrees). After 4 days of 90 + degree weather the lake warmed up to 65 degrees. I was able to swim in it comfortably w/o a wetsuit. I then wished I brought my sleeveless. I would have gone w/o a wetsuit but I am not a confident enough swimmer. Well the swim started and I became very hot quickly. In addition, the sleeves felt like they strained the shoulder. I expected to be around 15:30 but I knew that was not going to happen once I started. I was slower than last year. I plugged it out, stopping frequently to rest my shoulder. No prior OWS did not help the situation.
What would you do differently?:

1)Sleeveless.
2)Some OWS
Transition 1
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

OK. I threw down some endurolytes and tarted my GPS. Kinda funny, once I started biking, I realized I only put one sock on. I put the 2nd sock on at the 2nd transition.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 40m 32s
  • 13.9 miles
  • 20.58 mile/hr
Comments:

I don't know if a tri bike is right for this course. There is a lot of climbing and a road bike may be more appropriate.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Nothing special. I put my second sock on.
Run
  • 26m 43s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Crazy hot and humid. Run was more in the sun then I thought it was last year. I was running around 8 minute miles until I cramped up at mile 2. I stretched and walked for about 1 minute. I then cramped again at 2.5 miles and repeated the above process. I saw 3-4 guys past me in my age group. I would have placed if my run was not so bad. I sprinted the last 50 yards and cramped hardcore 5 feet past the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

CRAMPS & Head

Event comments:

I have to figure out these cramps or I won't race anymore. I have cramped in 4 out of the last 5 races.
