Swim
Comments: felt pretty strong in the swim. definitely will benefit from more training. coming out of the water i was very dizzy but overcame that in T1. What would you do differently?: Need to be more aggressive. People are grabbing and dunking me so i feel i should return the favor next year. Transition 1
Comments: had zip laces on my mountain bike shoes so got those on pretty quickly. no shirt, helmet and sunglasses went on easy. actually took an extra min to grab a drink of water and let the dizziness pass from coming out of the swim What would you do differently?: take less time. 3 mins is ridiculous. Bike
Comments: well as i expected i was dominated on the bike. I had road the course the previous weekend so i had some familiarity but felt like i had nothing in the tank. I knew the bike was going to be my weakest. What would you do differently?: focus on the bike for next year. Transition 2
Comments: So the transition off the bike wasn't too bad although there is a lot of room for improvement. Legs felt like gumby as i ran into the transition. Got my running shoes on quick (zip laces) and was off. What would you do differently?: ride w/ feet on top of shoes, jump off the bike moving. Run
Comments: Well what killed me in the run was not properly hydrating on the bike. I had accelerade in one of my bottles but didn't drink it...i should've. I also popped a GU at the beginning of the run...too little too late. after the first mile i felt a cramp starting to form in my quad. I pulled off and tried to stretch it out, bad idea. It cramped up worse so i had to suck it up and walk it out. Most of the "run" was a run/walk for me. I was taking water at all the aid stations, dumping it on my head but it was too late. What would you do differently?: HYDRATE ON THE BIKE!!! Post race
Warm down: stretching. Hammies, quads, calves, achillies, arms. What limited your ability to perform faster: HYDRATING and more training on the bike Event comments: Definitely will be back again next year. Lots of fun, very organized a great first triathlon. Last updated: 2008-04-24 12:00 AM

Had about 3.5 hours of sleep the night before. My nerves were absolutely shot. Ate some pasta w/ chicken for dinner. stayed at the hilton near the course. Morning ate oatmeal followed by a cliff bar. lots of water.
did some light jogging and plyometrics. it was so hot i didn't think a warmup was that necessary.
