Comments: THIS IS A PR FOR ME! I was not feeling 100%, but the run still went ok. I was trying to break my only other 5k's time of 28:04, which I did. =-) I was thirsty and tired and drank a bit too much water at about 13 minutes in. Then my stomach was not feeling so great, but I ignored it. A spin instructor earlier in the week talked about acceptable amounts of discomfort for training and racing and unacceptable amounts of discomfort for sprints and pushing your lactate threshold. I tried to spend most of the race in an acceptable amount of discomfort (as opposed to an acceptable level of comfort, which is my racing M.O.), saving a last kick for an uncomfortable and unsustainable sprint at the end. I had told friends/co-workers I was going for a PR, so I didn't want to embarrass myself. That was the only thing that got me through the last 1/2 mile! What would you do differently?: Get better sleep the night before and get there earlier. I didn't really have time to stretch. Post race
