Swim
Comments: My swim did not feel good at all. This was my first tri, but I was a swimmer growing up so I was suprised at how strange I felt in the water. I have done some swim workouts, and they felt better than this one. What would you do differently?: Race day - Warm up more. Workouts - swim more. Transition 1
Comments: I thought this transition went well. Didn't really know what to expect but I followed one person out of the pool and they were well behind me getting on the bike. I did forget my watch. Really didn't make that big of a difference as I have not been riding long, so not a lot to go on. What would you do differently?: Relax Bike
Comments: This is the piece of the race that is new to me. Just got my bike 4 weeks ago. It felt good. But I knew this is the leg where I would loose some time. What would you do differently?: I need to ride more. I think time on the bike will help a lot. Transition 2
Comments: Boy, my legs were strangers to the rest of my body. I've done some bricks, but obviously need to do more. What would you do differently?: Work on the yankz. Had them on my race running shoes but had never actually run with them. Kept thinking about "never try anything for the first time while racing" so I took them off. I needed to adjust them because they felt off, so I think it was a good decision for this race. Run
Comments: I was disappointed with my run. I think I rely too much on my watch when running. I couldn't get my watch going right (settings) and I didn't want to stop to fix it. So I ran blind. I didn't feel bad or good....just off. What would you do differently?: I had set my watch for the bike, but forgot it in T1. I picked it up in T2, but did not get the settings for the run. Totally threw me off. I didn't want to go out too hard (the big hill was at the end) so I just ran the same pace teh whole time. A little disappointed with myself. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit. Very little time to recover. I guess that means I probably didn't push myself enough (ok here is the excuse - this was my first tri). What limited your ability to perform faster: Need time in the water and time on the bike. Next tri is in two weeks. Event comments: I can't really rate this race - it was my first. I had a good time. There really were not any post race activities. There were bagels and fruit + water for after the race. Oh, and on the "Overall Contestants" section I just put in the women. I didn't see anywhere on the reslts where the women and men were combined. The total racing were 280. Last updated: 2008-04-25 12:00 AM

This is my first tri. Nerves flying!!!
Woke up at 3:15am. Had laid out everything the night before, but knew I would double check it anyway......so just loaded everything in the bag in the am. Showered, got dressed, woke up husband (2x), ate energy bar and 1/2 bagel, drank lots, loaded the car. Oh, forgot to mention the 7 trips to the bathroom.
On the way to the race (45 min drive) I went through all the emotions of a first timer - excited, to nervous, to asking my husband "Why am I doing this?", to crying (proud tears) because I am doing this, and back to nervous.
Got transition set up. Jogged a little bit and swam just a few laps.
Had to practice flip turns going under the lane line.
I did very little warm up as most of my time was spent wandering to or in line at the bathroom (can't believe how many times I hit those bathrooms -boy was I nervous!)
