Run
Comments: So wasn't feeling it from the start, hadn't even gotten to the 1km mark before I was feeling it!! I think it was a combination of the humidity and just overall exhaustion from training lately! So I got on to the trails and was feeling like I got into a rhythm that felt much more natural then on the paths leading up to the trails. I started in the lead group and kinda fell back from the leaders as I got onto the trails, since they were bustin' it out at the beginning. I stayed back quite a bit and just kind of "neck and necked" it for the first 5km approximately. Then the guys who started out fast kinda fell back since they were gunning it super early. Passed a few guys, got passed by them back, and just back and forth right until the end! Didn't feel good at all, and I was surprised to be under 40 on a dirt course! There was a point in the run where there wasn't an aid station for about 3 km, so I felt a little dehydrated at the end, even though there was an aid station at the 8.5km mark. What would you do differently?: Drink more water the day before maybe? Post race
Warm down: Just walked around! Ate a few bananas and waited for Carolyn to finish! She was under her goal time of 1 hour (57:22 :D) What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of aid stations for 3km Not preparing for the race training wise! Event comments: Great race! Was super fun and for a good cause (Dementia awareness) Last updated: 2008-04-27 12:00 AM
