Swim
Comments: What can I say.......I HATE the swim. It was a hard swim but I think any swim is hard for me. I felt like I was in an Endless pool and going no where. When I got out of the water I looked back to make sure I wasn't the last flourescent orange swim cap getting out of the water.....I wasn't and that helped me mentally. The waves started 5 min. apart and I did have some guys in the wave behind me pass me on the swim but they were nice enough to not swim over me like other tris that I've done. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. I stayed on course and didn't swim in a zig-zag like normal so I was happy with that. Transition 1
Comments: Not a clue about the transition times. We did have to run about 1/4 mile to transition and that gave me a chance to get my breathing back on track. Bike
Transition 2
Comments: Should have taken a GU before I ran. Overall transition felt good though. Run
Comments: I should have taken a GU before the run. I don't know where my mind was when I was in T2. I kinda puttered out at mile 4 and started walking. What would you do differently?: NUTRITION! NUTRITION! NUTRITION! Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: This is the first tri that I've done in about a year. I looked at it as a long training day and to see what I needed to work on for the upcoming year. I know my swimming needs a lot of work and I definitely need to start working on nutrition. I had a total brain-fart in the nutrition category. Event comments: This was the first time for this race and I have to give the race director and his crew KUDOS on a job well done. I look forward to doing this race next year. Woke up at the crack of dawn at 3:15. Had some friends coming over to the house so we could carpool to Pensacola.
Had some oatmeal with dried fruit - yum yum and then a Gu right before the swim. Had to walk about a mile to the swim start so everything was warmed up.
