Swim
Comments: Thought I was starting above my ability, especially when the guy behind me was wearing a DC aquatics club swim cap. Well it all worked out great. Kept it close with the girl in front of me, hit a mess around 200m, I had taped her about 10m before that.. we both then passed about 4/5 people by the wall but she picked up the speed so I stayed on her. The rest was uneventful, climbed out of the water with her. (She ended up being F25-29AG winner so I guess it was a good choice) .. Results out really happy.. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: T1 was bad, I just felt a little out of it and for some reason by removing my sunglasses from the equation my routine was thrown off. Forgot to put on helmet, realized it when it fell on the ground taking my bike of the rack. Decided to start with shoes on.. feel I need to practice getting into them with wet feet on the bike.. Times out = slow but rank is suspect since many were assigned 1:00 What would you do differently?: Don't make stupid mistakes Bike
Comments: Pushed it on the bike to the point my HR average was 1 below LT. Course wide open when I started. A little concerned with my cadence, I use to push around 100 in races, this time I averaged 91. Really hit the hill hard, maybe to hard? The bike course was short about 0.5 miles to inflate my bike speed, yay! .. AG result makes me happy, want to be higher in the overall. Top 5% instead of 10% What would you do differently?: Train more to improve bike speed Transition 2
Comments: This transition was better than the first, need to remember knees before shoes, but still made stupid mistakes. That is all. What would you do differently?: Be faster, not waste time Run
Comments: This run was tough for me, I still have the pain below my rib and that really limited my ability to push it. Twice in the run I could barely breath, and I think the pain played a role. The course also is a little hilly, so it to kicks your azz. My knees felt "pretty good". The run course was long by about 0.08 miles to increase my average pace, boooo! Results = slow ;) But I know why, and it is not purely fitness. Coming out of T2, I was in 1st place AG (not counting Dan) so we know what I have to do!!!!! What would you do differently?: Train more to get faster, fix pain below rib Post race
Warm down: Grabbed water and oranges. A little later grabbed a bagel. Talked with all the other BTers, and then waited for awards, since if you on BT you seems to clean up in the awards .. Congrats shelly123, docswim24, and vApoLY04 on scoring hardware. Also saw kimmitri408 finishing up her first sprint.. great job by her!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Pain in my stomach, being a slow runner :) Event comments: Unfortunately Setup didn't bring/have all the awards to the race, so some people got them, others didn't.. they didn't have the 10-14 y/o awards, which I think are the most important to have.. that is the sports future and you want them to enjoy/love the experience. Headed over to the site after flat bread and giet coke. I also always take a shower before a race.
Swam a quick 50 before the race, other than that nothing
