Event warmup:

RODE FROM THE PARKING SPOT TO THE TRANSITION AREA. IT WAS AT THIS POINT I REALIZED I FORGOT BOTH!!!! WATER BOTTLES. I CALLED D WHO CALLED DAD WHO BROUGHT THE BOTTLES FROM THE HOTEL. THEN I RAN ABOUT 2 MILES TO WARM UP AND DID SOME STRETCHING BEFORE GETTING ON THE SHUTTLE TO HEAD TO THE BOAT.
Swim
  • 32m 54s
  • 2700 yards
  • 01m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. TO BE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BAY IN SAN FRANSICO! IT IS SOMETHING I WISH I COULD ALWAYS DO. THEY MADE US JUMP OFF AN OLD GAMBLING BOAT AND THEN SWIM TO SHORE. i SIGHTED THE HUGE TOWER ABOUT 5 MILES OFF SHORE AND HEADED TO THE 11 O'CLOCK MARK TO ALLOW THE CURRENT TO TAKE ME THE REST OF THE WAY.
What would you do differently?:

NOTHING, IT WAS AN AMAZING SWIM.
Transition 1
  • 06m 19s
Comments:

THE T1 TRANSITION HAD US COME OUT OF THE WATER AND THEN RUN ABOUT 1/2 MILE TO OUR BIKES AND AT THAT POINT WAS ABLE TO PUT ON CYCLING SHOES AND ROLL.
What would you do differently?:

I would have focused on getting in a group and swimming in the mix. Use the draft of others to reduce the amout of energy i spent swimming.

Post race
Warm down:

food for my dad. then we went and had beers!

Event comments:

I enjoyed having my dad out there with me and enjoying the san francisco area with me. We did everything a tourist would and i think we both improved our relationship. It was the first "father son" type trip we have ever take. I would strongly reccomend this race to EVERYONE. from arrival in SF to departure it is an experience i will remeber for the rest of my life.
