Swim
  • 33m 22s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

One of my best swims. I just kept my head down and tried to stay calm. I have a tendency to get excited and forget basics. This time is kept saying to myself calm down, you can do this. I drafted quite a bit, which was cool.
Transition 1
  • 05m 37s
Comments:

Took a bit to get the wetsuit off. And it is like forever to trasition from the swim exit. I am not good at running in my shoes and I couldn't get clipped in well on the bike start. At least it wasnt 8 minutes like last year
What would you do differently?:

Wetsuit off better. Learn to clip in and run in the shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 15s
  • 24 miles
  • 17.09 mile/hr
Comments:

The hills at the beginning are tough on this course. Third lap was my best. All of the printers were on the course so there were lots of people to pass and that sped me up. Need to work on my hill climbing. That is where I loose it every time.
What would you do differently?:

Get better at hills
Transition 2
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

I did OK. Still cannot run in the shoe.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe take shoes off at dismount line. Dont sit down to put on sneakers. Almost forgot to remove my helmet.
Run
  • 1h 19m 4s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 12m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

I was hurting coming off the bike. Shin splint (probally the result of yetserdays 5K) and a stich in my side. got rid of the stich by mile 1 and the splints were managble by mile 2. I had a goal of 13m/mil. I know thtas slow for alot, but for this distance that is good for me. I was able to hold that. I did a combination of walking and running. I ran the downslopes and speed walked the up slopes. The beginning was slow, but I hit my stride in mile 3. My quads were craming bad mile 4-5, but in the last mile I was just thinking about the finish. There were 4 folks behind me when I finished.
What would you do differently?:

Get faster
Post race
Warm down:

Wlaked alot. 1 bottle of water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am fat

Event comments:

I did alot better than I thought I would. I wanted to fininsh in 3:45, but hoped for 3:30. SO, 3:24:59 was unexpected. Its all about training. Alot of credit goes to Andy for my training plan. I did the work, but he got me there!!!
