Pre-race routine:

Got up 4:40 and ate some white bread and a banana and had some coffee. Got to the site at about 6 which was plenty early. Did spend some time in the potty line though!
Event warmup:

Not much. Wanted to swim a little but it was pretty cold out of the warm water.
Swim
  • 09m 6s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim for me. I though the water was nice (compared to John Tanner State Park in April it was clean as pool water) I could have gone faster but I found myself right in the middle and it was pretty crowded.
Easy to site with the right turns.
What would you do differently?:

Move to the outside for more room and SWIM HARDER.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

It was pretty good. Wore tri suit so no change which was great.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 44m 22s
  • 13 miles
  • 17.58 mile/hr
Comments:

Loved this course, the flats suited me really well. My bike computer showed 42 minutes/av 18.9 mfh though so not sure what went wrong there.
I had decided to leave nothing out there and I pretty much went as hard as I could. I think that with all women the field is more evenly matched and it was really crowded. You would either get blocked in or have to pass so those were not great TT conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really it was a great ride for me.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Good time, it was ok.
Run
  • 39m 7s
  • 3.73 miles
  • 10m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

It was just awful. I am not a good runner but at 55 minutes after the swim and bike I knew I could beat my goal time of 1 hr 30 min.
Couldn't get my legs under me the first mile and the hills just kept comming. At 2 miles I was still on pace and the smile could not have been wiped off my face. I can not believe we were not informed of the longer course. I just died at the end and the disappointment of not making my goal time (WHICH I WOULD HAVE DONE EASILY AT 3.1 miles!!!) initially just ruined the race for me.
What would you do differently?:

I really need to step up my run training. All the girls I passed on the bike all passed me on the run - actually I think EVERYBODY passed me on the run so this is where I really need to focus and improve.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank some water and hurried out of there to catch the shuttle before it got too crowded.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

In short: run training.

Event comments:

Of course there is the remote finish but I have to say that although I technically (!?) did meet my goals I was pretty upset at the finish that we were not informed the run was so much longer.
