Pre-race routine:

Got up. Ate a clif bar. Drove to race. Pretty low key
Event warmup:

Did a really quick warm-up in the pool. Stretched. Hung out for awhile until things started. You had to wait until each wave before yours was done, so it was a bit before I actually got in the pool.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 525 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt consistent, though a tad slow, but didn't want to wear myself out. Not sure what my actual time was since I forgot to start my watch. Since I've never actually done a pool race before, I was not used to trying to haul myself out (of the deep end) with fatigued arms :) So it was rather ungraceful...
The presence of lap-counters was key, though, so I didn't have to think about that so much.

What would you do differently?:

Just get faster, overall. Practice exiting the water with grace and style ;)
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No timed transition. Getting into sneakers with wet feet is harde than putting on bike shoes with wet feet.
What would you do differently?:

Dry feet off FIRST.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

The trail part was the hardest. I couldn't go as fast as I wanted to downhill b/c the terrain was a bit uneven and there were lots of large rocks,so I didn't want to wipe out. Those were the largest uphills I've ever run, so I slowed down a bit. I timed myself approximately and didn't do that bad over all. I didn't ever stop running, which is always the goal :)
Good thing - I beat the girl who beat me in the pool - she was in my lane. Though obviously a competitive swimmer (judging by the team swim cap she wore), she may not have been a runner :)
What would you do differently?:

Run hills - hard hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Got water and a hot dog and a couple of donut holes. Waited for them to post my time - took awhile. Chatted with some other triathlete-types (non-BT'ers) and BITM and Z, who said my swim looked good :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just ability in general :) I need to be faster in the water and be a better hill runner. Legs felt amazingly good though, considering I rode pretty hard yesterday.

Event comments:

Fun little race. Very casual and low-key, no timing chips or mats or anything. The run is HARD, but it was still doable. Nice early-season event. Wasn't out to win it, just trying to get more experience doing actual races, so I get used to it, get over the nerves, etc.
