Run
Comments: OK, No excuses. I wanted to do sub 4. I didn't do it. There are several factors that kept me from it but mostly it was under prepardeness. My heel kept me from doing much long stuff so I knew I wouldn't do great. The other thing that ate up a bunch of time was the huge crowd. My first 5 k was 40:17. I tried to get through traffic but the number of people kept it from happening till much later. Lastly, the last few miles my left knee was really hurting. IT band I think. This is the last of my running till my heel gets better. I will be stretching and doing other training until much later this year. Then it is start up slow and stady... What would you do differently?: Seeded myself much closer to the front. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. Number of runners. Event comments: I liked this course better than any other I have run. I was great to see all the sites. I was dissapointed with the aid stations. There were plenty of stations but I expected there to be more with Gels. There was one early on and one about mile 15 and Sport Beans at around 20. I didn't pick up any early on because I expected there to be more at each station. It probably said this in the guide but I missed it. I brought a bottle of Perpetum and 1 gel pack which helped carry me to the mid way gels. I was planning on not using anything but what is on course. Glad I brought it along. This is still a must do race. The Marines and other armed forces present along with the scenery were very moving and well worth it!!! AND I GOT TO SAY HEY TO SWEET CORN AND BUTCH CAN"T SWIM. We happened to run into each other early in the race. Very cool! Last updated: 2008-04-30 12:00 AM
