Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30 drove to race site. Drank a bottle of G2 and ate a Clif Bar.

Good swim passed a few people which I did not plan on doing but everyone stopped at the wall and said go ahead. I think I passed 5 or 6 people and the lanes ahead of me were clear. Very pleased.

Pleased with my first transition ever. On the way from the pool to the TA, I decided not to put on socks and it was a wise decision, felt no ill effects from that at all.

I was plenty upset with myself. One huge downhill followed by an equally big hill...I thought I had my gearing correct and would be able to push up the hill. On the first lap, my feet slipped off the pedals and I lost all power and momentum. Ending up pushing the bike up on the first lap. Corrected that on the second lap. And made it up all the way with little trouble.
What would you do differently?:

Not get off the darned bike. I am still upset about that.

Walked a minute, ran a minute. Stuck to that pace/schedule the entire time. I had planned on running the entire time but for some reason, my body just would not cooperate, so I decided to incorporate the walk/run plan.
What would you do differently?:

Run more...walk less.

Warm down:

Ice cold towel, bottle of water and an orange slice. And waited on my buddy to finish who was 9 minutes behind me.

Event comments:

I did set a PR in this...mind you it was my first so I PR'd everything. I am already looking forward to next year. This was my first but not my last.
