Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 had a beadel with PB and drove to the site. Set up my transition area and talked with a fewe friends doing the race.
Event warmup:

Headed doen to the start,I was in the third wave. Swam out to the first buoy and back.
Swim
  • 20m 44s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

The start was a little rougher than last year. I got kicked and punched a few times, nothing major. After the first 200 yards I settled into a good pace. My sighting was on line the whole way and I feel like a did a good job of drafting.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I took 4 minutes off my time from last year.
Transition 1
  • 03m 32s
Comments:

Long run from the water to transition and my spot was the farthest from the bike out.
What would you do differently?:

Hope for a spot closer to the exit.
Bike
  • 31m 32s
  • 9.3 miles
  • 17.70 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike always seems to be my weakest link. I had gone up to Oyster Bay the last to weekends to ride the course and I feel that it paid off. I tackled the hills with ease and seemed to put out a good pace without killing myself. I actually passed quite a few people this year.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I took almost 4 minutes from my time last year. More time in the saddle will bring the time down.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Run
  • 21m 10s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

As soon as I got out of transition I made up my mind to catch anyone in front of me. I did not get passed once on the run and picked off the people in front of me one by one. I passed three guys heading into the last 1/2 mile where I got passed last year.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Got some water, bagel and a bannana. Hit the massage tent also.

Event comments:

Great race, this is my second year competing and I will be back again. I tokk about 8 minutes off my time from last year. It was very satisfying to see such improvements.
