Swim
Comments: Swim felt pretty good, not nearly as congested as it was at Miami U. Set a towel by the door and dried off while I was running to transition, worked Ok. What would you do differently?: nothing that I can think of Transition 1
Comments: I took some time off in this race....didn't have any trouble with bib number, seemed to get dressed a little quicker...kept my hair in a pony tail under my swim cap, which was easier to deal with. What would you do differently?: find some energy gel that doesn't leave such an after taste. don't wast time drinking water in transition, try to get more steady drinking on the bike Bike
Comments: a much better bike for me than my first tri at Miami U, nice and flat, chain came off 1 x switching to the lowest gear...still don't know much about good biking technique...just praying the whole time that I'm not ticking anyone off or getting in their way. Road at the end of the loop was so beat up, potholes everywhere. What would you do differently?: get a road or tri bike, clipless pedals, more practice and better technique Transition 2
Comments: wasted a little time in T2, b/c my foot was asleep and a needed a moment to shake it out, otherwise no real problems Run
Comments: I'm still slow, but I had one of my better times today, felt like I have better control over my breathing...boy, do I miss my MP3 player, though!....first 1/4 mile was a little rough and had to stop to re-tie my shoe, but other than that I was pretty happy with the run...I need to push myself a little harder What would you do differently?: pick up my pace a little more Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: bike, cycling knowledge/skill Event comments: For a first time hosting a Tri, I think OSU did a great job...The had cones and flaggers and officers all over the bike course. Felt like it was a little congested with swimmers waiting to start....i noticed several people with really high numbers starting way earlier than they should have. Bummed that there wasn't a race t-shirt. Overall, I was thrilled with my second tri experience, took a total of 12 minutes off my first time....and, I was first in my Athena Divison! Yeah! Ate a bananna and CLIF bar about 1.5 hrs before the race. Got to OSU early to drive the bike course, picked up number/chip, set up transition area (still have the ol'trusty hybrid bike!), walked around and stretched for a few minutes and got ready to warm up in the pool
approx 300 meters in the pool
