Swim
Comments: The waves did a good bit of trying to push me to shore. This wasnt an easy swim going diagnal to beach with waves constantly pushing me off coarse. The last 100 yards or so really took me my breath away. I think I was expelling too much energy fighting the wave and and siting in the wave. It also was a pretty violent bunch I was in with a few kicks. I would have liked to come out of the water sooner but looking at my place and everyone elses time I guess no one was setting any PRs. So I was pleased. Stood up and tried to run in about 3 feet of water because I was just too tired to swim anymore. Then it was a long beach run and grass run into T1. What would you do differently?: more swim training. Transition 1
Comments: 72/319, 6/15 AG. Long run up too beach which caused a slow overall T1 time. I got past by some fast beach runners who were in my age group on the way up to T1. Didnt like this but I figured I would just try and work on the on the bike.I just sat down and stuggled to get my wetsuit off my ankles. Once I was at my bike it really didnt take me a long time to get my stuff and go. What would you do differently?: Run faster out of water. Bike
Comments: averaged about 20.5 according to bike computer. and 20.6 per race website detailed results. I think the race distance was a little longer than 12.4 miles. Out on Key Biscaye Hwy with 1 decend size bridge hill and one huge long leg burned. Then back.Tail wind on way out. Which didnt seem that strong on going with it but was pretty hard on the way back as a headwind. I think the hills did me in pretty good too. Hit 35.2mph coming down the hill. Cought up to some of the olympic races who started before me. The bike route was semi crouwded. It was a beautiful and very scenic beach ride with clear waters. What would you do differently?: hill training Transition 2
Comments: 71/319, 6/15. Pretty consistent with T1 time. Me no likely. I didnt know where I was coming in and so I didnt get my feet out of my shoes until about a 10 seconds before Getting off bike. This slowed me a little bit and almost caused me to fall. I came in with someone in my age group and tried to bet him out but he got me. What would you do differently?: get out of shoes sooner. Run
Comments: It seemed like no wind was blowing and the sun was beaming hot at this point. I tried my best to give it my all but I felt as if I was starting to overheat. I just kept pushing and the last half mile was real tuff. I picked up the pace and just past some one in my age group who ended finishing 12 seconds behind me. I later found out he had a 2 minute penelty on the bike, but Im glad I came through and it was competetive. What would you do differently?: maybe a little more hydration. Post race
Warm down: food and accelerade. Not much else. What limited your ability to perform faster: a lot of challenges on coarse. Waves, hills, heat. But a fun race. Event comments: I dont want to take anything away from myself but I think I place so well because most of the ringers were doing to olympic an not the sprint which gave me a better chance out of getting 2nd in AG. I didnt think I placed that well until I seen the results. Last updated: 2008-05-04 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45 ate cliff bar and banana and packed up and drove to Miami from Fort Lauderdale. I was very excited on the ride down there. I just pumped for the race. No nerviousness at all. Seen Zayra and her friend. again when setting up bike.I got a pretty good spot on the rack on the end with a good exit route out of T1.
about a mile jog before swim. I did a couple minutes on and off before my wave start. Olympic tri started first at 6:45 and my sprint wave started at 7:15. I didnt like waiting and all that anticipation.
