Comments:

First open water swim in 62F water with a new wetsuit and no open water practice. No surprise my swim fell apart into chaos.
What would you do differently?:

Practice open water swimming with my wetsuit well before event.

After the disaster of a swim it was good to get to transition and back to something I had practiced.
What would you do differently?:

Although ranked 28th for T1 I could have moved a little quicker and improved the time.

Comments:

Legs adjusted quickly from bike to run. This run was below race effort. Spent most of race running along with a young woman who was cheering on everyone she saw. It was a great way to end a race that started out so poorly.
What would you do differently?:

If I had been going for a race effort I would have ran the first portion the exact same and then continued to the finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Terrible swim due to lack of experience and no open water practice. The biggest limitig factor was allowing the initial chaos of my swim to effect the remaining swim.

Event comments:

This race had great trophies for the winners and had a good flat course. I look forward to trying it again next year.
