Pre-race routine:

Got Barbara Ferrante and Deb Torpey ready for their first race ever. Took them out on the bike and the run course.
Event warmup:

warmed up with the ladies. Alicia was able to get out of work a bit early to get to the last race. Yea!!
Swim
  • 07m 28s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

the race didn't start out too good for me. I stepped on a rock in the middle of my foot which left a nasty bruise. My navigation at the start of the race kind of sucked since I got caught up in the middle of a lot of people. Once I got around the buoy it was a lot better.
What would you do differently?:

start farther left
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Pretty non eventful. Foot hurt a bit.
Bike
  • 39m 44s
  • 10 miles
  • 15.10 mile/hr
Comments:

Well I realized when I got on the huge hill that my back break was rubbing. I refused to stop on the hill so I eventually was able to reach back and open my break up. Definately slowed my bike time a bit.
What would you do differently?:

check my bike better before the race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

pretty ok t2. I am going by my times from the last race since i don't have the splits from my transitions.
Run
  • 15m 45s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I was happy with my run. The foot pain didn't really kick in until I took my shoes off and changed.
Post race
Warm down:

ran out a bit to bring Barbara in even though her run was awesome and she needed no help from us.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Foot, Brake on my bike. Not a bad race overall, but I wanted to beat my previous time.

Event comments:

It was great to share this awesome club with Barbara and Deb. I think they had fun. Deb ended up going off course on the bike and I think she was a bit frustrated. Overall they had fun and might do it again.
