Overall Rank = 27/95

Age Group Rank = 2/6
Pre-race routine:

rough slepp. awake at 4:00 5:00 6:00 finally got up. Breakfast of miniwheats, as per usual, orange juice and apple. Had everything ready the night before. Loaded up the gear and hit the road. About 1 1/2 hrs drive to get to the lake. Registered and moved into transition area. Laid out gear
Event warmup:

some stretching a little on the spot running. VIsted with some others who were on their first tri also. SHould have warmed up better. Maybe gone for a short run. There was a longer tri and a duathlon already going when I got there so got caught up in watching the events.
Got into wet suit about 20 minutes before race time. did a quick swim warm up. Maybe 509 meters to warm up and loosen the suit.
Swim
  • 07m 9s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 20s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

still need more work on style to make the swim easier. I was out of breath when I got back to shore.
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

Overall a pretty good transition. fell over getting the wetsuit off so just sat on the ground and finshed changing. I found putting on the shirt to be the most time consuming. Lacing shoes was Ok if a little slow.
What would you do differently?:

Practice puting a shirt on over a wet body.
Bike
  • 24m 39s
  • 10 kms
  • 24.34 km/hr
What would you do differently?:

work on my leg strength and durability. Watch my gears. I was not in the gear I though for about 3km of the ride.
Transition 2
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

Decided to run with the same shoes as biked with as it was only a short distance and didn't want to waste more time changing the shoes. I am not using riding shoes just cross-training runners.
Run
  • 12m 4s
  • 2 kms
  • 06m 02s  min/km
Comments:

Legs were very stiff off the start but had good tempo of about 90/minute. They didn't really loosen up until about 1.25K into the race.
What would you do differently?:

Need to strecth out my stride. It was too short even though I had a good tempo.
Post race
Warm down:

short wlak back into the transtion area. Remove excess clothing and walked down to lake for a quick cool off. after that over to resfreshment area to get watermellon and bananas. Drank the last 2 bottle sof previously frozen water.

Event comments:

This is a great first race. Just enough challenge on the bike to make you work.
