Swim
Comments: This was my first swim of any distance this year. As our local pool had just opened. I felt good for the first 1/2 of the swim, but ended up swimming on my back for a good portion of it as well. What would you do differently?: Be better prepared, perhaps get a pool membership. Transition 1
Comments: This went well, as I didn't need to put on a shirt. My socks took too long, had I not lost a toe nail a few days prior, I'd have tried to go sockless this round. What would you do differently?: Try to go sockless @ next race. Bike
Comments: This is my event! I didn't spend much time below 23, and felt great most of it. I found that it really throws folks off if you talk to them as you pass. I didn't hydrate on the bike, but as short as the race was, and as well as i hydrated prior, I don't think this affected the bike. What would you do differently?: Practice cornering at speed, and add some more hill work. Transition 2
Comments: Started to feel pain where the toe nail used to be and sorta gimped the bike back to the rack. Shoes off/on went smoothly, then gimped back out. What would you do differently?: Not gimp. Get tri shoes & practice getting in and out of them while in motion. Run
Comments: Stopped and gimped a few times, but not often. Otherwise felt good. What would you do differently?: Not stop and gimp, and dial it up to 11 for the finish. Post race
Warm down: Drank a bottle of water, took a dip in the lake What limited your ability to perform faster: I want to blame some of this on my hurt foot, but alas, that had less of an effect than I thought. I need to better prepare for the swim, and start getting some speed work in for both the run & bike Event comments: In the grand tradition of Jack & Adam's events, this one was top notch.
