Pre-race routine:

Up at 5 even though I didn't need to be. Had a bowl of cereal and got dressed. Put all the kids in their clothes and headed out the door at 7:30. Thought it would be a zoo downtown so we wanted to get a good parking spot.
Event warmup:

Standing around shivering waiting for the rest of the team Kruisin' for Krista. They showed up at 8:45, quick team photo and Clint and I were off to the run start line. Everyone else walked.

Comments:

WOW! The amount of people that show up for this Race for a Cure is truly amazing. Just thousands of them. Clint and I moved our way up to the 8 minute pacer just to try it (for me of course). As soon as the horn blew, we were off....to a quick walk. Soo many people in such a small space. I am sure it took about a good half mile before we were up to speed. Clint did his nice easy tri gate along side of me cuz he knew I wanted to PR on this course. We both had our watches on, but we saw no mile markers. Not a super competitive race, so we were pretty much picking off runners left and right. If you asked him, he would say he pushed me the last mile and a half. Well, if he did, thanks to him. I am so proud and happy with these results. I can't believe I did it. Of course there wasn't a swim and a bike before it, but it is good to know I can run a sub 8 minute mile now:) And I told myself if I PR'd this one it was going to be dedicated to Michele. So, this one is for you Trainergirlmick. I love ya.
What would you do differently?:

Go to the bathroom before the start. I always get worried about being in line when the gun goes off. With this many people starting at once, I am sure it wouldn't have mattered.
Post race
Warm down:

Loaded up on water and propel, entenman's brownies, muffins and fruit for the kids. Walked back to the start line so we could do the one mile walk with some of my sisters and my kids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Maybe age:)

Event comments:

I love this race. It is so amazing and inspiring to see so many people coming together to fight this horrible monster we call Breast Cancer. There are so many aid stations, plenty of food and lots of activities to do after the race at Pink in the Park. Sad to say I didn't win the Pink Harley though.
