Run
Comments: Great race overall. Plently of water stops along the way, even though I did not need water for 13.6 miles. I used the water stops as a great place to past tons of people. The course is up and down, but no hill was really that tough. I live around the area, so I really knew the course and what to expect. I would definitely say for a first Half Mary, knowing the course and knowing what still lies ahead of you is a great idea. What would you do differently?: Stop cheering on the people there to support me. The bands, police officers, fire departments, other people running the race, etc.... I spend half the run looking around at them, and cheering them on. I guess that is why I got so many odd looks. But whatever, it was a great time, and I enjoyed the entire thing. What would do differently is actually try running the entire time. If I really put down a good pace/candence I would have scored a much better time. However, with buying new shoes that week I was easing off really running in fear of my feet would not hold up. Post race
Warm down: Walk around a bit. Talk to my wife, brother, and family that showed up for the finish. Drank tons of water, then we were off to Ihop for some much needed breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Talking to other runners, and cheering on the people on the side of the streets. Event comments: First Half Mary, which is actually a bit longer than normal at 13.6 miles. Great race! I will be doing the Half again next year, or the full. Last updated: 2008-05-15 12:00 AM
