Swim
Comments: Good swim, as usual I can go faster. Just tend to hang back to much, not sure why. But still a good solid effort.Watch got bumped on swim and paused, wasn't sure what the swim time was coming out of the water. What would you do differently?: Trust myself to go harder. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good T1, nothing out of the ordinary. Bike was in correct gear for going up quick hill out of T1. What would you do differently?: All Good Bike
Comments: Rode a very controlled bike leg. I'm not a strong climber, so I had to make sure there was room for the run later. Handled Sugarloaf pretty well, was actually passing several folks on the way up and keeping pace with others. Except for the guy who was still in the aero position coming past me on Sugarloaf until about half way when he finally had to sit up. Impressive. The reminder of the ride went pretty well, chain came off once and almost wrecked on a turn, front tire went soft somewhere just before this. Good save not to wreck, checked tire no visible punture, so took a chance and co2 it, hoped it would make 7 miles more. IT did, was flat when I went to get bike after event. What would you do differently?: I was a bit undertrained on bike miles for the event, need to work on hill efforts and overall strength this winter. Nutrition was bit off near end of leg, as you'll see in T2 report Transition 2
Comments: Not sure what to make of this little laps of time, just didn't feel great going out for the run. So I sat for a while, ate a banana and got some water, started feeling better and finally got going. I guess nutrition was off near the end of the bike. What would you do differently?: Keep eating and drinking. Fluid intake i felt was consistant during bike, I guess didn't get enough calories. Run
Comments: Well I'm sure its a good run course, I'm just not a strong enough runner at this point. After T2 issue felt fine the rest of the way, stayed hydrated and ate at the aid stations. Got into a good groove for about 4 1/2 miles, kept wondering where the turn around was, although I kind of knew where I was going, meaning theres a hill in my life soon. So i thought why couldn't we just lap the parking lot about 5 times same distance. Anyway I decided at this point I'm not going to ruin my day. So I walked it, and any other hill the reminder of the day. Adopted the run/walk method each mile, kept a smile on my face and just watched the miles go by. What would you do differently?: Same as bike, need to have a good winter of running, do a couple of halfs this winter. Probably was a little weak minded on the run, because I was never in any real discomfort or had hit the wall physically. I didn't go there to walk, but it was the reality of the day. Post race
Warm down: Kept walking for a while and had a post race message. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just more training, I don't have the years of running and cycling base. But I hope to change that and do this again. Event comments: Great race, all of the volunteers were very encouraging and supportive of all the racers. Good organization, no complaints from me. This was my 50th birthday present, what a way to spend a great day. I loved it. Last updated: 2008-05-15 12:00 AM

Had a great nights sleep, spending the night even though I live fairly close was nice. Had breakfast, a little coffee, shower, and began to think about the day.
Arrived about 1 1/2 early, no rush, got marked set up area. I like being next to the fence. Did a very short jog about 45 min. prior, stayed hydrated and then it was time to get the wetsuit on did a short swim adjusted to water temp. And then it was time.
