![]() Swim
Comments: Started out breathing every 4 strokes - tried to stay relaxed. Did do the breast stroke a few times. Wasn't a slow breast stroke - didn't loose much ground at all with those that were using the craw. What would you do differently?: No excuses for me here - I just gotta swim more. I know I don't and don't pretend that I can't. Just been 3 times in the past month - not gonna get any better like that! ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Had trouble clipping in - wasted precious time here. What would you do differently?: ummm - should switch out to my speed plays - maybe that will help? ![]() Bike
Comments: Very technical course - lots of gear shifting - I liked the stops and turns 'cause I like to sprint. I was actually surprised I averaged over 21 mph again. What would you do differently?: Nothing I can think of. Just need T.I.T.S. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: OK - I got my right foot unclipped. Swung it over to the other side as I approached the dismount line. I was going too fast and touched down before I got my left foot uclipped. I was "this" close to hitting the pavement but was able to pull it off. I got more comments and cheers and claps saying, "great save" than anywhere else on the course. What would you do differently?: Not be such a klutz. ![]() Run
Comments: Felt good. What would you do differently?: Need to get my butt out running some more. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Nothing really spectacular. I saw Janette (nette213) at the finish line so I stopped and chatted w/ her since she is the only person I knew there. Had some water, some sandwhich and a 1/2 banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Been a very stressful past few weeks with not much training. Plus I really wasn't "into" this race - more of a "D" race for me. Mostly mental! (Go ahead, say it!) To boot, when I signed up for clydes I didn't expect to get down to 196 lbs 4 days before the race so I kinda went on an "Elvis" diet which I'm sure didn't do me much good nutrition wise. But I weighed in on race day at 200.8 lbs! Woo Hoo! Event comments: Volunteers were great - lots of help and cheering and encouragement. It's a small race in it's 3rd year. Very pretty scenery - magnificent homes / estates / mansions / compounds. Last updated: 2008-05-15 12:00 AM

Trouble getting up - I fell asleep the day before for an unplanned power nap from around 4pm - 5pm. I woke up and was wired until around 11:30pm. Had a bagel and peanutbutter. Drank a Monster Java Energy drink and headed to the race - only about 15 miles away.
Lots of stretching and loosening up. Jammed to a few tunes on my MP3 player - gotta love Korn and Saliva - both get the blood pumpin'!
