Overall Rank = 217/292
Age Group = athena
Age Group Rank = 2/4
Pre-race routine:

Bagel with PB and a small coffee. Drove to race with my friend Ceren
Event warmup:

jumped in the water and swam for about 10 minutes. Water felt GREAT. Umm, but I couldnt get out of the water, because the floating dock was ~2' above my head. Argh. Big thank-you to the 2 lifeguards who pulled me up out of the water (umm, a mortifying experience for me)!!
Swim
  • 29m 26s
  • 820 yards
  • 03m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

I cant belive my time - I felt SO good during this swim, I am surprised I was this slow. I did a mile in 46 mins in the Philly Olympic Tri but then again I was wearing a wetsuit. Mentally, I decided to focus on each part of the race separately and not 'rush' trhough the swim (which I did on the last race, and it was bad). I got right into a groove and swam well.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster. But I thought I was going pretty fast. Shrug.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Comments:

Decided before the race not to wear gloves for the bike, to save time. That was a good call!!
Ran all the way from the swim exit to my bike, then ran my bike to the start. Felt great. No problems with this transition.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 56m 40s
  • 15.5 miles
  • 16.41 mile/hr
Comments:

I decided to hold back a little on the bike so I could have a great run this time. I am still pretty pleased with my time, though! I felt good throughout the entire ride.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, I am glad I rode the course before the race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

One of my better transitions from bike to run. I don't need to sit down when changing from bike shoes to run shoes - need to remember that for all my races! Got all my bike gear off, slipped into my shoes, grabbed my visor, and was on my way.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 37m 12s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m  min/mile
Comments:

I started off the run too fast - was running a 10:30 mile!! That was pretty awesome that I had that much energy - what a change. But I was afraid I would 'flame out' so I slowed down and ran 12-minute miles consistently after that. Felt GREAT and was really excited to finish!!
What would you do differently?:

nothing, I'd like to go faster and am working on it!
Post race
Warm down:

walked around the park and finished all my drinks

What limited your ability to perform faster:

fitness level

Event comments:

'Best race so far' from a strategic perspective. I think taking each discipline separately and focusing on it (instead of rushing through it) really helped. I felt great through the whole race.
The acutal race was run great, as usual with CGI Races. Well organized. Great amount of support on the course. I'd definitely do this race again.
