Pre-race routine:

Slept about 4 hours, then woke up nervous about getting to the race in time, finding our race packets, etc. Ate raisin bran for breakfast, as it was a long time before the race.
Event warmup:

Use my inhaler. Took an Excedrine for my knee. I was kinda stiff after driving for two hours.
Run
  • 30m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs handled the hills better than I expected. I am not disappointed with my time, considering the hills.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster?
Post race
Warm down:

Waited at the finish line for my kids and my sister.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I should probably get more sleep. Also, I think I'm to the point where I need to stop just 'letting it happen' when I race. I need to think; push myself at the right time; have some strategy.

Event comments:

Since this was my first experience in a big crowd, I don't have much to compare to. Just had fun.

Performance: Good
Course: Beautiful run up the hilly streets of Helena. At the top of the first hill was the cathedral. The bells tolled as the runners passed. So beautiful. After a little running, and a few turns, we were running directly toward the front of the capitol building. It was just beautiful! Very hilly run, but fun.
