Swim
Comments: Nice fast swim. Started at the end of the line practically and tried to pass everybody. Everybody. That muddy pond was to be my house! 4 stroke breathing and long catches were the key. Transition 1
Comments: Stood around once wondering what else I had to do. Why did I do that? Bike
Comments: I have the triathlete's equivalent of a WalMart bike, and this leg really brought out some bike envy. However. Being in North Georgia I'm not afraid of a hill, or a mountain, or a gap. Not that I excell at them at high speed, but I'm not afraid of the challenge. Passed many on the uphills and was passed by many on the downhills. This leg for me was to see what was out there, in terms of topography and the technical. And I never did get much faster... Transition 2
Run
Comments: This was the leg where my training plan and all those bricks of various weights were to come into play. Two miles up the hill, in a rutted out gulley path unfit for hiking let alone Running, I turn my ankle really bad. I hop around and chose to keep going, needless to say falling off my 7:15 hoped-for pace. What would you do differently?: Pay very close attentiion to the terrain, and less attention to straightening out my race bib to look pretty or whatever the heck I was doing when I sprained my ankle. Post race
Event comments: Overall, it was a good race, though my swelling ankle was the phantom harbinger of doom. I tackled my run leg, whereas I've never in all previous tris (all three of them) been able to run the entire distance. Last updated: 2008-05-28 12:00 AM

Felt much better this AM following a big all you can eat dinner and an Odwalla smoothie for breakfast.
Deep breathing before the swim entry and positive energy flow. Chi. Ready to tackle whatever happens...
