![]() Run
Comments: It was hot and there were a lot of women. I paced myself pretty well. This was a scheduled training run. Never had run a 10K before in an organized race. All on concrete. Took my own water. IT band started hurting a bit on left leg toward the end. Kept my pacing at 10 to 10:30 first couple of miles, then picked up to just under 10, then at 9:30, a bit at under 9 and then back to 10 something. Had a kick at the end, but was tired. What would you do differently?: Nothing. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Put lots of water on myself with Aflac sponges. they were fun. Drank water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not sure -- maybe the heat, my ITB. Event comments: Could have had more water stations, but I took my own and needed them both, plus what they offered. Race started 15 minutes late. Too much talking by the announcer. Nice expo. Ran out of fruit though. I'm not into bagels and breakfast burritos after running in the heat. Nice shirts, nice volunteers, good swag -- loved the stuffed Aflac duck.Nice women-only event. Lots of female empowerment vibe. Last updated: 2008-05-30 12:00 AM
