Comments: It started to rain lightly during second loop of bike segment;Refreshing! Didn't rain long, just enough to wet the roads. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Of the four Olympic distance Du's I have done with HFP this season, this is the first event that I have been able to run the entire final 10K. I attribute this to the cooler temps! During the other three events the temps have been much warmer and usually about the half way point of the 10K I would begin a run/walk routine to the finish line. I was cooked! My HR was near max and running very slowly, so the only thing to do is walk and cool down a little before continuing on. During the last mile or two of this final 10K run, both my lower legs were barking at me. They were sore! I believe the cause of this leg discomfort was from the accumulation of my training on the run course and more race day stress on my legs. But I continued on, determined to run the entire distance of the 10K run segment for the first time, which I did. Post race
Event comments: Third time I have done this race. But today was the first time I have done the Olympic distance course. Perfect day for racing! Cool temps, about 60 or so at start of race. Mostly overcast. A little rain during the bike segment and temps in upper 60's and skys clearing at end of race. Ended my "08" Du season on a HIGH note with a very satisfying performance at this race! Last updated: 2008-06-01 12:00 AM

Went to the park twice in the days before this event to train. Did both the run and bike course a couple times before the race. However, I did notice after the training on the run course some soreness in my right lower leg.
UP at 4:30AM. No Breakfast. Brief stretching.
In hind-site, the no breakfast seemed to work well.
Light jogging around starting line.
