Swim
Comments: Boy do I need to improve my swimming. I'm still not comfortable in the H20. I think I may have started too strong and tired my self out. Definitely need to get more confidence so I can focus on stroke and technique. What would you do differently?: Start training in the OW. I swam in the lap pool yesterday and do a lot better in that setting. I don't think its the open water so much but the other people, etc. Transition 1
Comments: Felt like I did a decent job here. I went sockless for the bike portion and that seemed to work well. Having a tri top and nothing to change into certainly helps. 13/240 Overall and 3/31 for Age Group. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Just be a bit faster. Bike
Comments: Again, the bike is my strongest segment. I made up a lot of ground during this segment and was passed only three times (none racing in the sprint group). The course was rolling hills with a large downhill to start and thus a large uphill to finish. What would you do differently?: Just more time in saddle, still feel I can get faster here. Need to practice hills more. Also this was first extended time in aero position. I felt that that went well but really still need to analyze position in aero. Transition 2
Comments: Went down wrong aisle at first and before that had a poor dismount. Ranked 184/240 Overall and 23/33 in Age Group. Poor transition and no reason this can't be a lot faster. Also need to work on getting out of shoes while on bike. What would you do differently?: More practice. Run
Comments: Good run for me, especially after solid bike. Middle mile had some good uphill portions. I think I was only passed 2 or 3 times on the run. Coming off the bike I realized, after looking at my time so far I wouldn't be able to get my goal of 1:17. I was happy that I was able to keep pushing though and reset my goal to beat 1:20. I am very happy with my place in my age group...never ran regularly until last summer, getting in the top 25% makes me ecstatic! What would you do differently?: Just more base building. Post race
Warm down: Drank lots of water and leisurely walking around and talking with some of the Michigan BT folks and my mother. Agree with others, HEED taste horrible. What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim and 2nd transition. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race, the bike was fun and the run was nice as well. It was great having the BT cheering section! Last updated: 2008-06-01 12:00 AM

Woke up a bit later than planned, set alarm for 4:45 P.M. instead of A.M. Oh well...breakfast of peanut butter w/wheat toast and a banana. Drove to event got decent spot on rack and set up transition area. Did a lot of pacing as I was antsy to get going. Drank a bit of gatorade and had a gel about 20 minutes before the start of my wave.
Swam just a bit to get use to water temp - Water felt warm. Stomach was a bit upset (nerves).
