Swim
Comments: I lined up on the right, but at the front. I had clear water the whole way, which was nice. I only encountered traffic rounding the second buoy. My arms felt like they weighed a ton - which I'm sure was because of the water temp. But, I was very calm through the whole thing. It's one of my slower swims, I think. Maybe I was a little too calm, eh? What would you do differently?: I could have pushed harder - and I made an error in judgment about when to stand up. I'm used to swimming in murk - if you can see the bottom you should stand up. Um, not so much in this lake. Transition 1
Comments: You know, if I could learn how to jump on my bike with clipless pedals, I could save a few seconds. My transitions are already pretty speedy. What would you do differently?: Nothing - transition went well. All about the business. Bike
Comments: Well, here's where I lose the time with these girls. I expected this, though. I haven't spent enough time on the bike to expect anything better. What would you do differently?: TITS, girly. TITS. Transition 2
Comments: I had the fastest T2 of anyone in my age group. Yay for the little victories! What would you do differently?: Nothing. I said it was the fastest. Aren't you listening? Run
Comments: I really can't complain too loudly here. I ran a half-mary last weekend and I really didn't know what my legs were going to do today. I'm pretty pleased with the time on this. I passed Amyjo on the run and didn't even realize it until the turn around. She battled back and we pushed each other for the second half. At least I think I was pushing her. She was sure pushing me. PJ showed up at the end to push us some more (she'd already finished). I couldn't let the little chica that decided to pace off us (and told us as much) wind up beating me. So, I kicked it in right at the end so I could pass her. What would you do differently?: Um, not schedule 2 races a week apart? Nah - I'll probably still do stupid stuff like that. Post race
Warm down: After hitting the porta potties (see note to self above), I walked back out on the course until I found PJ running in with MaggyRuth, so I could run back in with her. Twas a nice way to cool down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hm...lack of training. 2 events close together. Event comments: Hey - this is a PR for me. I finally broke that dreaded 1:30. Now, if I get my butt on the bike more, I might actually break 1:25, eh? Last updated: 2008-06-01 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:45 and ate a bowl of Kashi Go Lean. Note to self - this is not a good pre-race cereal. Ugh. Drove to the venue, immediately ran into sgoehner, djdavey and his friend. Grabbed my stuff, and rode to transition with Scott. Got a sweet end spot on the last rack in the row. TONS of room.
Mucho chatting with donkeys commenced, in between pit stops. (See note to self above.)
The water was fairly chilly, so I did the long slow progression into it and then swam back and forth for a while to get myself used to it. I stayed in the water until the wave before me went off, and then went up and over the timing mats and right back into the water.
