Pre-race routine:

Had toast and PB, bagel and Starbucks Double Shot light. Tried coffee from Holiday but it was gross, so just left it. Early morning and long drive.
Event warmup:

Got water into the wetsuit and swam a few strokes before getting out to wait for my wave.

Don't let the slow time fool you. This was a wickedly awesome swim for me. It's right around my usual pace, but executed with a lot more style than usual. I entered the water and began swimming immediately, no panic attack. Then I stayed with the group for a long time. I didn't freak when the next group came up and I mostly stayed on course. It was so great to get over that hurdle! I hope all swims are like this from now on.
What would you do differently?:

Sight better.

This was a badly designed T area. We entered the area on the side from the beach, conveniently right by my bike. But I was at the farthest end from bike in/out and run in/out. So, all the ladies in my AG had similar times.
What would you do differently?:

Can always hustle more, but this went pretty smoothly.

Tons of passing to start out. Finally found my spot and felt really strong, except for a few of the hills. I had an unusually high cadence for myself, but it felt good so I went with it.

Work more on hills

This was too slow, especially based on other times. I guess I need to work on my endurance because at this point I was just pooped.

Of course now the sun comes out. Sun is nice when I'm swimming or biking, but NOT running. It was hot and I did the best I could with lots of sponge showers at the water stops.
What would you do differently?:

I need to train a lot more on running. It's been especially bad lately.

Nice race and a good challenge for me. Really enjoyed catching up with the BT folks before and after the race, and watching the awards was fun. I wouldn't have minded winning a jug of Hammer Gel... maybe next time.
