Pre-race routine:

Woke up and fixed every pre-race necessity---COFFEE! Woke up the twins.

Comments:

I started this out pretty slow. My left calf has been giving me problems for the last several days and it was hurting this morning as well. My goal was to finish the race. I wanted to be able to run the whole thing and I did.

I have come to the realization that I will never be a top finisher (I'm not the athletic type). I swim (very little), bike (some) and run in order to remain healthy and in (somewhat) good shape. My goal on most races is to finish and not be last. Today I accomplished that.

I was pretty happy with this run. While it was slower than I wanted I didn't feel that I overextended myself. I was tired at the end but still had just enough left for a good sprint to the end!
What would you do differently?:

Not run on an injured calf. I guess I could run for more than 3 miles at a time.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a water bottle and went back to watch for Trevor--he was running the 15K race for the first time.

Event comments:

This race is huge! I like running it and the boys like it because it is after school is out so they can run it and not violate IHSA rules.
