Swim
Comments: I really struggled on this swim, like my first last year. Got clobbered a lot and could not get into a rhythm. Struggled a bit to the first buoy, but by the time I got there my breathing was way off. I struggled a ton on the way to the next buoy. Still had trouble with breathing and had to breath every right stroke. Was still in a fair amount of traffic. Finally on last third I got into a rhythm, but by then the damage was done. What would you do differently?: Start slower. I am not a fast swimmer and I got caught up in too much of the traffic. Had I started a little slower behind the heavy traffic I would have gotten into a good rhythm and saved a lot of time. Transition 1
Comments: First time with bike shoes. Had a good location close to bike out, so it was a short run with the bike. I put my shoes on at T1 since I have not yet practiced getting on with shoes on bike. No problems with helmet. Had a small struggle with wetsuit on heels, but not bad. What would you do differently?: Practice with shoes on bike. Bike
Comments: My first ride on my new bike. It felt really comfortable. I did not feel I pushed too hard (probably could have pushed a little more). I do need to get some more practice on the hills. I flew past a lot of people. I did great on the downhills and flats, but there were a few I was riding close with that would pass me back up on the hills. What would you do differently?: Practice hills. Transition 2
Comments: First attempt at going without socks. Would maybe do again at sprint distance, but nothing further - 2 blisters. Forgot to grab my race number and had to turn around, but I was only about 10 feet away. What would you do differently?: Not forget my race number. I will be wearing socks at the HIM. Run
Comments: Happy with the pace. It is definitely getting better, but still needs more work. My fastest time too date, though, which is good. What would you do differently?: Run more! Post race
Warm down: Had the breakfast burrito, oranges and bananna. Forgot to bring a post workout drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: One word - Swim. Event comments: A nice course and well organized. Last updated: 2008-06-02 12:00 AM
