Swim
Comments: BAD swim. I went out too fast and was in the lead, but after the orange bouy, I saw a yellow bouy... Too bad it was the wrong yellow bouy and a kayak had to redirect me. I probably swam about 50 extra yds, plus missed out on ANY possible drafting. Made up a little ground on the way back in, but this was not my best swim. What would you do differently?: Not go out so fast. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty smooth and the fastest T1 in my AG, but I did not have the smoothest mount. Mostly because it was crowded and I Was a little shaky, but once I was on, everything was fine. I passed a few gals just hopping on the bike! What would you do differently?: Not much. Bike
Comments: Good ride and good control and pace. 2 girls went by me in the first 10 minutes and I knew I had 2 more out in front of that so I was in 5th thinking WHAT the HELL!>!? But I played my own game and raced my own race and reeled them ALL back in, save Sabrina, by the end of the bike. Coming into T2 I was only 12 seconds behind first place. What would you do differently?: Not much. Transition 2
Comments: The wind had knocked over the "wave 5" post marker and I ran all the way to "wave 3" before I realized that Sabrina was already out of T2!! SHIT, oh well I lost a few seconds, but other than that it was OK. Also, I had no legs to run anyway :) What would you do differently?: Be more aware of other markers than just a tall wide post that is likely to blow over. Run
Comments: Well, I knew I was in 2nd and then when I got passed for 3rd, I just tried to hold her heels and thought, I'll try to hold on and if I have ANYTHING left on the last downhill, I'll try to blast past her, but it didn't happen. I had NO juice in the legs. Mostly from the ride the day before and Honu, but I will take what I got. It was still faster than last year :) Overall my goal was to podium and I did that, so I have to be happy! What would you do differently?: Not ride 3.5 hours the day before. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Previous racing still in the legs and training through the race. Event comments: Always love the 5430 series!! And WOW to podium at one of these big local races!! Last updated: 2008-06-03 12:00 AM

Got the bike racked, then helped with the kids, then got everything else into place.
Hopped on the bike, just to make sure everything was working, jogged 10 min with a few pickups and some dynamic stretching, then put on the wetsuit and swam about 200.
