Pre-race routine:

Got up and drove out to the race with the girls. We had fun chatting and trying to distract from the race.
Event warmup:

Warmed up with a quick run with Steve. Peed then went into the water for a 5 min WU before hitting the dock for the swim start.

Just wish I could have held the draft better and longer. Also I was still pulling left. But overall, not a bad swim and I stayed in front of Trish - Barely.

I was tired heading out of transition. I fought to get my wetsuit off for some reason. I was TIRED, so I just couldn't do the jump on running mount. I did a slower running mount and it was fine.

Just out of transition, both Sabrina and Trish passed me... Um, I don't THINK so!! So I hammered it harder and passed them back before the turnaround. They were still right up my butt at the 2nd loop turnaround - less than a minute behind me! But I held them off and negative split the bike!! This was 3 minutes faster than the same course last year!! WOWWWWWW!!!!

They gave away and award for the fastest transition and it ws 37 seconds... DAMN! She got me by 2 seconds! But This was a smooth transition. All I could think of was staying in front of Trish and Sabrina.

I was determined to break 45 minutes on an OLY this year... COME ON!!! I was close. My HR was SKY high, and I was panting from the beginning of the run. I never gave an inch. Sabrina passed me on the last hill and I pushed my ass off to hold her off over the hill... Only it wasn't the real last hill. I blew a gasket and she passed me on the REAL last hill. I still managed a VERY respectable finish!
What would you do differently?:

Know where the last hill is and bide my time until the last hill. And run 2 seconds faster!

None, I sat at the finish for my friends, had some beer, some food, and a GOOD time :)

Team USA again baby!! And the podium! Great race. Great time and cool to watch the pro race.

Got a decent start and I ALMOST held the lead group. Lost that lead grou around the first turn bouy and could NOT catch them again. Then I ended up pulling the 2nd group to the finish. not great, but not bad. 7 seconds faster than last year!
