Pre-race routine:

ate pasta and had one glass of red wine the night before. we spent the night in the minivan and went to bed a little late, but i was totally hydrated.

umm...since i signed up during packet pickup i started in the last swim wave. which was 2 hours after my friend started...so i watched and yelled for him.
Event warmup:

i jogged for 5 minutes and strides for 5 minutes and had a good sweat going...shoulda done some spinning.
Swim
  • 15m 37s
  • 500 yards
  • 03m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

very bad...i still have trouble warming up in the middle of swim. shoulders get sore and legs drop and i just suck it up.
What would you do differently?:

warm up more. practice doing 500yd warmups without stopping. maybe do pushups...
Transition 1
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

good transition...jogging from pool to rack was slow...but rack mechanics were flawless
What would you do differently?:

run from pool to rack instead of trotting.
Bike
  • 39m 53s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.05 mile/hr
Comments:

could've drank a lil more fluid as i was getting slow on hills...didn't think i needed it but i could've used it in hind site.
What would you do differently?:

drink more per strenuous work and not just per sweating and time. i thought i was ready for this kind of course...but i think i took too much off the last week before...legs were cold and stiff.
Transition 2
  • 00m 25s
Comments:

excellent! second fastest transition only slower than my buddy who taught me everything! felt great! nailed it!
What would you do differently?:

nada
Run
  • 24m 1s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

started out fast. should've kept the pace
What would you do differently?:

don't drop my pace...suck it up and do it.
Post race
Warm down:

nada

What limited your ability to perform faster:

poor practice leading up to event. broken goggles...didn't really limit performance, but highlighted the poor mental strength during swim.

Event comments:

free qdoba at the end...GREAT! i also loved the active wear shirt i got...wicks sweat away...great tshirt not the stupid cheap cotton one.
