Pre-race routine:

The usual - Marie Callenders spaghtti night before, Almond butter english muffin for breakfast. I did not wake up early enough! I always forget it takes a full hour to get there. I also made the mistake of eating some kind of cheese dip night before. When I got parked I heard Dan announce "you have TWELVE MINUTES to rack your bike" YIKES ! My digestive system was very mad at me! thank goodness for porta potty in the Transition Zone.
Event warmup:

walking my bike about a quarter mile to the transition area over very rocky terrain
Swim
  • 11m 20s
  • 328 yards
  • 03m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

horrible, horrible swim. Water turned black after rounding the buoy.
What would you do differently?:

get to the front of the wave so I don't have to get stuck with people flailing about in the lake. Or maybe skip all the events at this venue.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

This venue does not lend itself to doing a flying mount on the bike with shoes already clipped on. The start of the bike is uphill.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Bike
  • 38m 50s
  • 11.1 miles
  • 17.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Since my swim wave was last and I had a very slow swim, I constantly passed people but sometimes my time was hurt because I had to hang out behind people till it was safe to pass.. not good.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster so I don't have to pass as many/I can pass safer on the bike!
Transition 2
  • 01m 2s
Comments:

my legs were jello after that bone-jarring ride. Although I planned the flying dismount, my legs would not cooperate.
What would you do differently?:

probably nothing.
Run
  • 21m 53s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

average run for this venue. I was pleased with the run, it could have been faster but we had to stop for some woman pulling out of her driveway.
What would you do differently?:

try to run faster??
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

not getting in front of the swim wave

Event comments:

the only thing about this race that is negative is the water quality in the lake. But that's life.
