Pre-race routine:

Well I thought I would have plenty of time to make the race but it was tough to find a way to the parking lot. I arrived at the starting area just as the first group left and never got to my corral. Got stuck at the back of the race.

Comments:

As fun as it sounds to run through Disneyland, this was probably the worst part. At many of the areas inside the group bottlenecked and everyone came to a walk and waited in line to pass through the narrow spots. Secondly there were many characters in costume cheering the runners on but many of the runners cut across the group to take pictures, I got cut off many times. By the time I hit mile 4 and started on the streets I was way off my usual pace. I did pretty well until about mile 9-10 when I started to get an upset stomach (after my second gel) and decided to walk a while and recover. I had a long walking spree from mile 11 to mile 12. I think I was a bit dehydrated and my chest was fluttering, something I have never experienced. Being cautious I kept walking until I felt decent enough to run again. I was able to run the last mile feeling pretty good as I came to the finish. Not my best performance by far but I still got through it.
What would you do differently?:

Need more training at the longer distances. This summer has been tough.
Post race
Warm down:

Easy walk and drinking. Was really sore after the race in both my feet and legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just running in general is hard for me.

Event comments:

Maybe it was because I arrived later then I wanted but this is not the race to get a PR on. I guess I should be happy I finished but my time is 30 minutes slower then my other two half marathons. This is a good race for fun but the bottlenecking was pretty frustrating. I would only do this again if I had friends competiting as well. Also I am not sure I like the long runs in the summer when it is warmer then the ones in January-March when it is nice and cool.
