Total Time = 1h 34m 14s
Overall Rank = 98/146
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/10
Pre-race routine:

Had breakfast at hotel. Orange juice, roll, hot cereal w/ peanut butter & half cup coffee.
Event warmup:

Ran up street and did warm up lap in pool.
Swim
  • 09m
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 15s / 100 meters
Comments:

They had us in groups of 25 in order by our race numbers. Every ten seconds a swimmer would start in lane one and then when we reached the other side would go under the lane line into lane two. That would continue into each lane until lane eight, where we get out and went to the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

I would be quicker getting out of the pool and across the mat where the time chip gets the signal.
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

This is my fastest T1 time so far. The bungee shoelaces helped.
What would you do differently?:

Be quicker.
Bike
  • 51m 27s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 14.50 mile/hr
Comments:

I am very pleased with how I did on my mountain bike. My pace has never been over 13 miles/hour. This is a personal best for me. I lost count of how many people passed me on the bike, but that's ok.
What would you do differently?:

Get a road bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Just a little problem snapping the race number belt. Otherwise, a good transition.
What would you do differently?:

Hustle a little more.
Run
  • 30m 16s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

It was pretty hot at this time of the race. I felt that I was keeping a steady pace.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more brick workouts from bike to run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Using a mountain bike instead of a road bike.

Event comments:

This is by far my favorite race. I like the fact that there is one transition area instead of two. Great post race activities and well organized. I can see why there are a lot of participants.
